Martin is ordered by Tischbier to steal a top secret security report.
Just as Martin Rauch is beginning to enjoy his new life in the West, he is ordered by Tischbier to break into NATO head analyst Hendrik Mayer’s hotel room to steal a top secret security report. He refuses to do so until Tischbier promises to help his mother, Ingrid, who is suffering from diabetes back home in East Germany, where treatment is scarce. When Martin finally steals the NATO report, his superiors in East Berlin cannot read it because it’s not saved on paper, but rather on a floppy disk. This technological hiccup turns into a humiliating struggle to keep up in the dawning era of the computer, a key example of the diverging paths of Communism and Capitalism.

1) Obviously NATO wasn't only spied on by the East Germans and Russians, but also by the Chinese.
For Martin there were two sides of the coin. On the one hand he almost got killed, but on the other hand he now could blame the Chinese spy for stealing the floppy disk and got conveniently away with actually himself stealing it.

2) She fell down only one level (maybe 2 or 3 meters) and she was an excellently trained fighter who knows how to fall in the best possible way, so I have not that big problem to buy it.

Actually ep 1x02 kept me on the edge of my seat, especially while Martin was stealing the floppy disk. Every moment I thought, something would go wrong, but it went well ... and then suddenly the Chinese spy girl appeared and delivered a pretty good fight.

ok so why did she attack him? he didnt have the disk.
how would she know if he had the disc or not?

and I think they wrote that in just so he could blame it on her.

What? Of course he sucessfully stole the floppy disk. Did you miss that?
And the Chinese girl already was observing him, as her cover she was working as waitress and earlier that day (or the day before) she was waiting on him.
Then I absolutely wouldn't have thought she'd turn out as a spy though.
Actually she was pretty clever just to wait and see, what's going on and probably just found out accidently that Martin stole the disk, then tried to pick it up after he'd done the difficult part. Probably at least at first she even didn't know that Martin was working for the HVA (East German secret service), she was just spying on him as the orderly of a high ranking German Bundeswehr general.
