Season 1 General Discussion

Ok have seen eps 1.2.3, and it is cute show, I like mary, and she pretty much carries the show.
Fun to watch for a summer show, depends on what they do with it.
Right now I dont see where they can go with it.

I mean the bugs could get to anyone. Hard to stop that.

Will probably continue on thru end of S1 and see how it ends up, and what they do with it.

I have to say 2 things,well maybe 3
1 I like the show
2 it has the worst theme song ever !!!!!!!!!!!!
3 I wish it was just a drama thriller, instead of trying to be part comedy and part drama.

just saw ep 4 and her friend abby jumping was a surprise, guess
they will suicide to prevent discovery.
and then at end her bf she thought was deaf in the one ear ??
I didnt see anything so must have been that.

I have to wonder why they havent got her brother yet, and I guess they want
a rebellion.

Didn't know Mary before, but yeah, she's one of the reasons why I immediately liked the show.
And I definitely love the way they mock about how politics works in Washington. It's fun to watch, but still feels like pretty realistic ...

she started as bruce willis daughter in the die hard movies.

I saw a B film recently "Faults" 2014 where she played a girl who was in a cult, and her parents
paid a guy to kidnap her and de program her, and it was really good, a low budget gem.

10 Cloverfield Lane was also good, and she had a lead in that.

The Thing 2011 she was the lead

Smash is one I havent seen, but just noticed it , and it is her and Aaron Paul.

I have seen all 6 now, and she was telling her other bf about the bugs. lol

I checked and it is a cbs studio show, so that helps, but since they aired it in summer
means they didnt think much of it.

what is it doing in ratings ??

Well, actually that's what I meant ...
And believe me, it is't any better over here in Europe or Germany ...

They all go to the same politician school to prepare for the life as a politician !

Looks kind of low?
Is that good enough for a "Summer Show"?

Well not too good ! but it is a late summer show, so not sure how bad that is.
It is good there was a upswing for 7-31 !!!!

Main problem is the neilsen viewers did not watch the first show, or very few did.
For 4.5 mil , that is like about 20 of them lol.

I think this show was good enough for midseason, if not fall primetime.
I would like to see what they plan to do with it, to sustain the show.
by that I mean storywise.

Just saw ep 7, I wAs worried about laurel. and I thought they all were bug controlled.
I like dr bob, and the girl , they are a good team.
I would think the bug people would go after them harder.

I did think the bug out of senators ear, was a bit too corny.

This show and outcast, and night of get my best of summer award!

All 3 are very good, and I am glad to see some quality shows on in the summer again.

Well saw ep 08, and it was good, her dad is one, but acts more normal.
They want a war.
I hope they get another season to end this.

saw ep 09 tonite, and she broke up with her bf, which to me is really stupid.
If things were normal it would be ok, but with a bug invasion, she needs him,
and needs to make sure he doesnt get "braindead" !!

I keep forgetting to watch live on sundays, now it is about over.

Well, it's not stupid imho, but understandable. Like Laurel said, Gareth handled the information about her earlier life really not well and she gave him another chance to do better. But he made exactly the same mistake with the (false) information about the "sex with Michael Moore" matter.
So her reaction makes kind of sense imho. I also think, she just broke up the romantic relationship with Gareth for now. They are still friends and care for each other, so they stay allies to fight the bug invasion.
I liked ep 1x09 a lot. The bugs seem to lose patience more and more, it was quite a shocker, when Red just shot that investigator and killed also the only witness, his new assistant.
This show is really fun to watch and especially the actress, who plays Laurel, is totally cute and easy on the eyes. I wonder, how I never saw anything of her earlier.
But I've seen Cloverdale 10 a few days ago. It was good and the acting was fine, again Mary was the highlight of the film, but Ben Goodman was brilliantly creeping too. The ending was surprising and fealt kind of rushed, but screams for a continuation. Any info about that?

good if mary was in it.
She is good enough to carry a movie or show, if you like her.
Since you now like her, try the thing 2010 and the one where she is a cult member and guy is trying to deprogram her,
she totally carries the film, but the guy who co stars is also good.
It is a good example of a cheap movie that is still good.

And about the breakup, sure he goofed, but he doesnt even understand the danger yet, she did tell him a little, but not
enough, so now the breakup is stupid.
If anything she should say we will just be friends for awhile.

and yeah it surprised me he shot the investigator, but I knew he was when the guy said what he said,
and tony reached for the drawer.
and he whacks interns quite often.

Ok saw ep 10, and she zapped the war with a video !!
3 more left, and last 2 will be on same night in 2 weeks.

Ratings are so low, I am not expecting a renewal, but maybe they give it another
summer run.

Just saw 1x11 and I have to say again how amazingly entertaining this show is turning out week for week. The actor who plays Red, just kills it!
I think next week's two-ep finale will be a lot of fun to watch!
I just hope for some kind of wonder and a renewal for the show ...

The guy playing red played "Monk" in that show, did you ever see that?
1st season and 1/2 were great.

and yeah i hope it sort of has a decent ending so if it doesnt get another
season we wont just be left hanging.

It is sort of like izombie, just a cute show and the lead girl is pretty.
I think it aired at worst possible period with late summer start.

The Thing (2011) was pretty ok, nothing more than the usual "Alien on ice", but still watchable, and Mary was easy on the eyes as always ...

Well try the one where she is a cult member, and the guy is trying to deprogram her.
it is a unique film, and the 2 actors carry it.

So I've seen the finale (eps 1x12 and 1x13) now and I loved it. I had to laugh out loud several times. This whole series was just amazingly entertaining with an outstanding cast, especially the actors playing Red, Laurel and Gustav, but also the others. And without taking themselves too seriously they did an awesome job to show in a funny, but still enough serious way, how politics works ...
The ending was fine and - like I read - the showrunners did prepare for a second season ... Luke and Laurel at Wall Street ... I'd love to see that!!!!!

Don't know "Monk" yet, but I guess now I have to check it out, because that actor, who plays Red in Braindead, is fantastic ...

ABOUT S-2
I think if this gets a S2 it would be new story and new cast, no more laurel.
So I view it now as just a cute miniseries.
I watched the end live, but missed the first hour and 1/2.
so I need to watch 12-13 as a whole, before I comment.

Well he is a good actor, In monk he plays a guy who used to be a cop, who was phobic, but his wife kept him
going, then his wife is killed, and he retreats into his super phobic world.
He has a woman who helps him, and the police ask his help with a case, and he gets back into world
helping police solve cases.

It was similar to braindead, in that it is drama, but not serious drama.

I liked the woman who played his helper, they made a good team. then half way thru S2 during hiatus,
they replaced her with another actress, who was ok, but not the same.
The actress who was let go, was wanting more money, and she wound up missing out on show that went
6 or 8 seasons. They had her back for the finale, kinda sad.
