"Liberty" - The Machine, now completely self-governed with its whereabouts unknown, resumes giving Finch its "irrelevant" numbers for people in danger, which include a U.S. naval officer in town for Fleet Week. However, with so many sailors flooding the streets of New York City, finding the officer in time presents an even bigger challenge for Reese and Shaw. Meanwhile, Carter has been demoted to a patrol officer as a result of her being set up by the corrupt police crime organization HR, and sets a plan in motion to eradicate them for good. Also, Root tests the boundaries of her new asylum surroundings, on the third season premiere of PERSON OF INTEREST, Tuesday, Sept. 24 (10:00 - 11:00 PM ET/PT) on CBS.

Where We Left Off:
As various parties searched for the Machine, Finch's creation showed surprising powers of self-preservation by moving itself to an unknown location. Reese and Shaw rescued Finch from Root, who despite being placed in an asylum, was still in contact with the Machine. While facing an internal affairs investigation, Carter helped criminal mastermind Elias escape custody after learning of another cop's plans to assassinate him.

What's Next:
Carter remains on a collision course with HR after being demoted, but she may not be able to rely on Reese and Finch, whose operation is threatened by the Machine's newfound self-governance. "We've had a lot of people who had plans for the Machine the past two seasons," executive producer Jonathan Nolan says. "This season, the question is: What are the machine's plans for us?" But don't worry, the Machine will still give Reese and Finch (and new partner Shaw) numbers each week, even if Finch is no longer calling the shots. "As its creator, Finch has an understanding of what the Machine may be capable of, but he's not entirely in control of this thing," executive producer Greg Plageman teases. "It's clearly a growing organism that is evolving, perhaps beyond the scale of his understanding."

Yes I did watch it live, and it was ok, seemed more like they were introducing the show to a new audience.
Found the main story a little boring , and shaw was a bit over the top.
Slight spoiler
The spec ops team and the russians at one point, I think wow how stupid can these people be?
so to me that could have been written better.

The guy who walks out with the case, and bag, who was he?

I have to say the only part of the show that really grabbed me were the "root" scenes.
They made the show worth watching.
what she says at the end is really good, so I bet he gives her phone back.
Carter is evidently going to do a solo in bringing down the bad cop guys, and she has the mob guy to use,
but only in certain ways so that was interesting.
She wants to do it her way.

Shaw was good last season as a guest star, but I am not sure she will be good as a regular.
They want to neuter her like cameron, dont kill anyone, and she is just having too much fun and is
too bad ass to be believable. She just kills people and walks off lol, and at one point is eating a steak like a barbarian, so I did not get that. I think I would have handled her character differently.

And the machine wants root to not kill either lol so that could be funny at times.
The machine is actually having psych session with her while she is there, and wants her to stay there so she is.

O and liked the new POI pic on the front page ! simple but attractive.
I have never seen that one before.

Also in the preview for next show, the bad guy is a data broker.
Harold gets hit in the head, shaw is dressed up and acting normal, and it looks like the machine
takes a active role in this one ! lol talks to the bad guy and is in control of the elevator he is in.
Definitely a male voice! but maybe it uses a female voice for root?
I think my main interest is in root and the machine, I would love a spinoff with just those 2!
but I still like the show as a whole, I just like those 2 way more than the others.

watching again, I noticed the Dr calls her (root) "Robin" and at end the machine is predicting his death
is 78.06% , which means he may be in trouble?
The other one was mass casualty 7% and another one I could not read was 6 %.
this is at the very end last scene.
She was not in the previews so next week may be "rootless"?

when do you normally get the eps? next day? do you watch then or wait till weekend?
So you posts on the ep will be wed ?
Next day for any of the shows?

Go to "Profile", then "Preferences" and then set "Always allow HTML" to "Yes", then "Save" ... that's all.

Yeah, normally next day in the evening for "high-end" shows like PoI or Breaking Bad. So posts may follow already on Wednesday night, sometimes a day later, depending on my time schedule.

It was "Scarface", Elias's right hand (also a corrupt cop). Elias gave Reese the tip (via Carter) about the Russian fence, when asked who'd buy those stolen African diamonds.
So it was logical to send Scarface there to look for some "fallout". And it definitely was worth the look ... ;-)

Chicago fire beat us in the demo!! the 12 mil is good, but the demo is low, for a 1st show.
I think the move may not have been a good idea?
The lead in Of Ncis LA did not help at all.
question is will the demo drop much?

I guess lauren made a good move , her show is picking up and 5-0 was moved to fridays.

You are right, Root is awesome ... and creepy ... , poor Dr. ... how will Root's argument with The Machine end?




Over all I liked PoI S03E01 a lot. It was just fun to see the "gang" back on the road ... ;-)
Shaw is cool. Maybe in future they have to make sure to not overdo the "fun/slapstick" elements (that would also go for Reese a bit), because PoI mainly is a dark and serious show with an actual topic, so better not risk that. But so far all is good.
It may get tough nevertheless to get many new viewers, because now it's already a very complex story with a lot of background almost needed to know.
Considering the complexity of the plot and the characters imho the ratings are very solid. It's of course easier for a standard show with the usual relationship schemes like Chicago Fire to increase viewers (though I personally will never quite understand that).

Nice to be back.
Cool at the beginning a Diplomats Son is grabbed and we find out they have a extra team member in a mask. He is the Hostage Negotiator, he then shoots the kidnappers. It is Reese! I knew it had to be. He saved the POI.
Shaw has to help a man in a horse drawn carriage. She protected him from a gang. Fusco in the leprechaun suit was fun. Seemed like he didn't know what was up as Shaw shoots them. Shaw seems to quick to shoot. Finch not happy and it made Fusco not want to work with her. Then later Fusco comes and helps Reese, he is left to defuse the bomb. He does it in time ofcourse! Says, "I told you I had it covered!"
Root in her talk to Dr. Ronald Carmichael was interesting. She wanted her phone and he says no, She ofcourse hears a voice. Then on 2nd meeting she tell all about the DR. Also makes him worried she will kill him. Hard to believe the machine told her that. Or is she arguing with the Machine over kill or not kill? If she don't have her phone how is this working? She sneaking off to that pay phone every time?
Det. Carter is now down to Officer Carter, because of HR and the missing gun. Det. Fusco got a new partner. Dumb as a box of rocks,lol. Wonder if anything will come of that pairing? Carter has Elias under wraps and why? Will she need him to help with HR in future? I bet Finch or Reese will find out. There must be a manhunt for him. Would Carter use Elias as a pawn to win her Set. spot back after HR is no more and turn him as a captured fugitive??? Also at end Elias's 2nd in charge Scarface takes jewels from pawn shop after the shoot out. So he was watching them? Shaw didn't see that? Probably no cameras in store, but outside, Finch may have been able to see him.

Jack Salazar is POI, he and buddy Robert Johnson Phillip are here for Fleet Week. Rip and the Devil dogs roughing him up at first I didn't get. Also Reese borrowing the car to save Jack was cool. Then the standoff with Maxsim and the Russians in the Pawnshop over the stolen Diamonds with Jack and the Devil dogs was intense. Reese coming in to negotiate again. Shaw's remarks in his ear were funny.
Reese checks in on Carter, nice. We see she is working on her HR pyramid. So things are in the work by her.
Reese and Salazar have a lot in common.

Wife doesn't like the 10pm slot, so we have to watch it together at a different time. But I also have Shield she likes to watch, we watch NCIS, so that is on a different day too. And I have SVU, to watch on a different day. So I will get caught up it just won't be quick.

this is what I told tscc, is that the later time slot and different day could hurt ratings.
The show 1 hour earlier on thursday had a good following, so it was silly to move it.

I also watch shield, I like the hacker girl , she has a good personality. It is getting better as it goes along.

Carter has Elias under wraps and why?....... this gives her a tool she can use from time to time.
Plus hr wants him dead, and she is enemy of hr so that makes them allies.

If she don't have her phone how is this working?..... possible she uses the hall phone, but he gave her the phone back later, it had no cell service so he thought it was harmless to giver her a phone like that. but the machine could talk to her through that.
And the machine is trying to get root to not kill people.
