Some news Clone Club has been waiting for: BBC AMERICA announced the renewal of its award-winning original series Orphan Black for a fifth and final season. The drama starring Tatiana Maslany has been re-commissioned for a 10-episode order from Temple Street and is slated to air in 2017. The series has been hailed as “thoroughly impressive, wildly entertaining” by The Hollywood Reporter, and as “a singular accomplishment in drama” by The Daily Beast. 
Sarah Barnett, President of BBC AMERICA, stated, “Orphan Black is a thrilling, genre-bending ride that has captured our fans’ imaginations and hearts like no other show. Our genius team of actors, writers and producers have, time after time, taken us to a place of awe, delight and utter shock and surprise. The series has received considerable critical and award attention. It earned a Peabody Award in 2014, and lead actress Tatiana Maslany has received a 2015 Emmy nomination for Best Actress, two Critics’ Choice Awards for Best Actress, a TCA Award for Individual Achievement, a Young Hollywood Award, a Gracie Award, two Canadian Screen Awards and Golden Globe, SAG and People’s Choice nominations.


The Season 4 finale airs tonight, Thursday, June 16th at 10/9c.

As I predicted !
But it is odd they go on about how good it is etc, and then say 5 is the last season??

must not do good in ratings.
It is a shame that with this show gone, so is helena,Rachel, and Alison !... and christina lol

I would love to see a spin off with those 3.

I can see, why the basic clone story plot around Neolution etc. might have to come to an end, because dragging that out endlessly would hurt the show.
Regarding that, 5 seasons seem ok.
Nevertheless, characters like the clone sestras, especially Helena, Alison or Krystal, are so much fun to watch that there could easily be told quite some more stories ... so a spin-off sounds perfect.
The sad thing as always are the bad ratings ... I just don't get it, why an awesome show like Orphan Black doesn't get great ratings ... it's a big shame!

EMMY-WINNER TATIANA MASLANY AND FULL CAST TO APPEAR TOGETHER FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER AT 2017 PALEYFEST LA

Announced today, the fifth and final season of BBC AMERICA’s critically acclaimed series, Orphan Black, will premiere Saturday, June 10th 2017 at 10/9c. Tatiana Maslany makes the highly anticipated return to her Emmy®-winning role as multiple clones in the Peabody Award-winning series.
In addition, BBC AMERICA announced Tatiana Maslany (Leda clones) and the full cast will appear together for the first time at 2017’s PaleyFest LA on Thursday, March 23rd. Jordan Gavaris (Felix), Maria Doyle Kennedy (Mrs. S), Kristian Bruun (Donnie), Kevin Hanchard (Detective Art Bell), Evelyne Brochu (Delphine), Ari Millen (Ira and Castor clones), acting double Kathryn Alexandre and co-creator and writer, Graeme Manson, will kick off BBCA’s farewell to the series when they join the festival for a panel.
Orphan Black is produced by Temple Street Productions, a division of Boat Rocker Studios, in association with BBC AMERICA and Bell Media’s SPACE. The series is executive produced by Ivan Schneeberg and David Fortier, Graeme Manson, John Fawcett and Kerry Appleyard. The series is co-created by Manson and Fawcett, with Manson also serving as writer and Fawcett as director. BBC Worldwide distributes the series internationally.

The fifth and final season of ORPHAN BLACK brings Sarah and the sestras (Tatiana Maslany) to their darkest days in an effort to finally cut off the head of the snake and win their freedom. Throughout the season, the sisters individually delve into their past to confront personal struggles and emerge stronger through these self-explorations. Despite the great risk to attain freedom for themselves, their families, and the host of clone sisters they’ve yet to meet, clone club uncovers the missing pieces of the insidious conspiracy to finally learn the story behind their origin.

She won an emmy, thought that would keep it going, but ratings in UK I heard
were not very good?

It would be a good show for the CW.

The had planned it as the final season before the emmy, wanted a specific conclusion.
