| Negan is the most vicious villain they have had yet,.....yeah he is. It was a gruesome ep. so glen and red die. I thought carl was going to lose the hand. Well that wasnt a finale though, it was a start??
Negan wanted to break rick and I think he did, at least for awhile.

Negan wanted to break rick and I think he did, at least for awhile. That was the same word I used exactly "gruesome". Killing off two. It's like Negan and the show itself are both trying to prove they mean business this season. I halfway expected them to drag this reveal out over 3 or 4 episodes. It was a decent head fake concerning Carl's arm after increased credibility by surprise killing Glenn. Actually, I was surprised they racked up two significant deaths in one scenario. I felt that it was pretty unrealistic that they could stay semi-conscious (even speak a little) after receiving a first blow to the head like that. But that did add to the grotesqueness, and that's what they were obviously trying to maximize. There seems to be a competition these days, among TV shows, to see who can have the most shocking, evil and depraved villain.

| Well for amc this was very violent, it was a bit much for me. I guess the angst now is to see how rick gets revenge and kills negan, maybe he uses lucy?? | |

I guess the angst now is to see how rick gets revenge and kills negan, maybe he uses lucy?? Yeah, it was probably too much for a lot of people. But, I guess they do have one excuse in that they're technically "horror", and so they delivered along those lines. So far from my reading of the comic, that incident seemed like the lowest point overall for Rick. The TV version was a fair bit more gruesome and humiliating mainly because they added more killing, more gore, forcing Rick to almost cut off Carl's hand and that scene of dragging Rick off into the camper to fetch the axe.

| so they embellished what was in the comic. I guess they also wanted to make people hate and fear negan, which the gore may do that. | |

I guess they also wanted to make people hate and fear negan, which the gore may do that. Well because the show is dealing with real actors and dialog that's supposed to sound real, the characters have to be more nuanced and animated by necessity. But yeah, even with those considerations, one could say they embellished by merely adding more of everything ugly. I imagine, to a lot of people, all this shock material is not very entertaining when it gets beyond a certain point.

| That's exactly how he was killed in the comic, so they should be happy. I like Negan, - Spoiler:
before it started he was just a big bully, only gotten worse with the end of the world.

yes but they dont always follow the comic so glenn didnt have to die. I think he is one of the more popular ones they have killed off. I doubt it hurts the ratings though.

| No it won't hurt at al, I think he is the only one that could have that death, I said at the finale last year it had to be Glenn or Daryl, because it had to be someone who matters to prove how hardcore Negan is, Just Abraham would've been a cop out, and his death isn't as impactful as Glenn's will be. | |
