Better Call Saul Episode 1x10 (Season Finale) April 06 2015

"You ... are not Kevin Costner!"

Ok, the finale provided some drama like the death of Jimmy's friend Marco, but also quite some fun seeing the two together doing their tricks.
But in the end, Jimmy himself decides to become Saul ...
Obviously despite the chance to work for this other law firm he can't move on in the shadow of his brother. In the end he's done trying to earn Chuck's respect, what would never happen no matter what anyways, so he's open now for more than "doing the right thing".
For me BCS season 1 was a big positive surprise and the only annoying thing is that we have to wait now for a year (?) for season 2 ...
I can't wait to see how Gus comes into play and how Mike steps up to his right hand.

Great finale, I believe we just saw Saul born, whether he takes the name yet or not I don't know, I loved the Kevin Costner line. Hopefully we get 12 episodes next season.

I did not care much for the finale and neither did many others.

consider this , there is no way the other firm would make Jimmy a instant partner. They might hire him and in 10 years make him a partner if he did good.

With his background he would be lucky just to work for them and make a good salary.
He would have to earn any promotions over time and he isnt a young guy.

But they could have had him get and take the job, and realize later it was not for him or have something go wrong.

This season was a 5 ep season that they stretched to 10 eps, and they could have done a better faster paced story.

They could have had more mike and nacho , both of those characters are good and the actors did a great job.

I like the show and jimmy so I will be back for S-2, but many will drop this show or already have because it was so slow , and not much actual story, and many scenes
that were boring, were way too long and tedious.

I would like to see the ratings for the whole season, maybe put them in a S-1 ratings thread so we can refer to them next year.

The breakdown during bingo was reminiscent of the scene in The Wedding Singer, but not as funny.

The con montage was too long and boring.

Jimmy gets a good job handed to him and decides to go be a criminal? He's supposed to be a bright guy. Everything we've ever seen indicates that he's a bright guy. And he walks (or drives) away from a great job?! Wth. I could see crime out of desperation, but he blows off a GREAT thing ON PURPOSE to become a criminal? Makes no sense.

So dumb.

Second season is listed for 13 episodes on imdb
It has a 9.2 rating which is great, from 57000 users.

My concern though is the nielsen viewers, and their ratings, cause that is how the show has to support itself.

Breaking Bad really launched after people started marathon on them, I think it will be fine, especially if they start bringing in recognizable characters

That is good but it includes the big pilot ratings in the avg.

My fav character in this 1st season was nacho, and mike was also good.

I too did not find the BCS finale that great, especially compared to the other eps.

LOVE that comparison to The Wedding Singer breakdown! "You will listen to ever single word I have to say!" -- kind of like the Network breakdown. This is strange, for "Saul", since he never used to have those breakdowns on BB. He was always confident, in your face (when necessary, like confronting Hank outside Jesse's cell) and even when on his knees in a ditch in "Better Call Saul" (the BB ep).

I agree about the con montage: wayyy too long and predictable. It felt like recycling the flashback.

I wasn't as downhearted, though, about Jimmy's choice to turn down that job. Yes, to us, it seems insane (well, not to me--I hate work!), but if he had become another slick lawyer in a huge law firm, we would have no "Better Call Saul"! I mean, who wants to watch a Howard Hamlin clone doing everything lawyers have to do (pretty boring stuff in real life!) to get ahead? Not me!

Jimmy's story reminds me of a friend I made in college. We all went to get jobs after graduation & he worked as a longshoreman on the Boston docks. He hated it--punching in, doing what the Man said, and so on. He swore he would be his own man, start a business. But he had to finance it with...um...have you ever seen the movie "Blow"? Well, let's say that this guy was a lot like George Jung (played by Johnny Depp). His (small) pot empire was a success and yes he did get busted a few times.

But it financed his business and he never had to answer to a boss again. Every year he celebrates the day he quit that longshoreman job. Oh, and he was able to stop selling pot. So...like Saul, he took the "criminal" route for a while but he's much happier than he would have been on the docks until he was 50 or 60!

Your right about saul not taking the job, the story has to move towards him being saul.

Interesting about your friend. lol

Now we have to wait another year to see S-2, which I think will be better than S-1.
I hope nacho is in S-2 he played that part so good.
