Does anyone watch the Football World Cup 2014 in Brazil? Are the matches of the U.S. team broadcasted on a major TV network in the USA? Well, they should, because the U.S. team (with German coach!) beat Ghana 2:1 recently. Here are some really cool pics from that event (obviously there are quite some football fans in the U.S. already):

I dont get it on the regular tv I have access to, I might try it on the website I use for MNF, they have all the sports games. How long are these games?? 3 hours like NFL? To be honest I have never watched a "futbol" game. If I remember I might try the one on 22nd tomorrow , if you watch it check our site and we could chat. It says 1800, so I figure that is 6pm , but is that 6pm in my central time? and I am assuming these are playoffs?

1) A football (soccer) match lasts 90 minutes, after the first 45 minutes there's a pause of 15 minutes.
2) Well, guess what, I actually never had an opportunity to watch an "eggball" (American "football") match. I only know some scenes from U.S. movies or TV shows. I always wondered why it's called "football", while it's mostly played with the hands and not with a ball, but an egg ... And I seriously even wouldn't know where to watch an American football match live, though I heard that it's played also in Europe, but more like kind of an "underground" sport. Contrary to the status of American football in Europe/Germany soccer seems to have at least quite some fans in the U.S. too.
3) So yes, just give it a try! Would be cool! It's not complicated with the rules and you even may like it. 18:00 is 6pm, yeah. And it's New York time. So what time would it be in Texas then? 5pm?
5) It's still group stage. Only the first two teams of each group will make it to the last 16, when the knockout rounds will begin. Here's the standing of group G on June 21st (now the time should be Houston time):

ok 5pm sun are these 4 teams a group? so only 2 of them make the final 16? Soccer is more aptly called football and our eggball somehow was called the same thing.
So If I try this does that mean you will watch a cowboy eggball game??

CU then ... and why not, but I don't think a cowboy game is broadcasted on any German network (I'll have to check that out yet though)?

5th minute, wow, that was fast ... goal for Portugal! But there's much time left to at least equalize for the U.S. team.
0:1
Edit: 44th minute, excellent save by the U.S. goal keeper!! Half-time break. Everything still possible. Solid match so far.
55th minute, jeez Bradley!!!!!! That had to be a goal!!
63th minute, goal USA!!! Jones! Excellent shot!!
1:1
80th minute, goal USA!!!!! Only 10 minutes to go!! That would be the last 16!! I'm impressed!
2:1
UNBELIEVABLE!!! 95th minute (last minute of 5 minutes extra time), goal for Portugal!!!!!!!
2:2 (final score)
That was fun to watch! The interesting point is, with a draw between Germany and USA, both would make it to the round of the last 16, no matter how Portugal and Ghana play ...
(Time = Berlin time, so 18:00 on June 26th should be 12am in New York and 11am in Houston)

I fell asleep sorry, will try the next game! so they played to a draw! no overtime? I suspect there are frequent draws? the one good thing abut eggball is they have almost eliminated the draw thing. so the next game is against germany lol that might be fun since you are german and me usa.

Half-time break. Pretty average match and not that exciting yet. But with that result both would make it to the last 16 ...
0:0 (half-time Portugal vs Ghana 1:0)
Edit: 55th minute goal for Germany!!!!!!!!!!!!
0:1 That's also the final score. Portugal vs Ghana 2:1, so yeah, both Germay and the USA made it to the last 16!! Nice!

So germany won with only 1 goal ! ? goals are hard to come by . and even with losing usa makes it to the finals. ok I will try to catch some of those games , maybe do the time correction for me ! lol

Major League Soccer (MLS) seems to be the national U.S. soccer league.

Yes, from round of last 16 on it's just knock out rounds. If there's a tie after the regular 90 minutes, they have to play 2 x 15 minutes extra time. If after 120 minutes there's still a draw, there's a penalty shootout. So there will always be a winner. And yes, Greece got beat only by penalty shootout, because they played 1:1 after 120 minutes (90 regular + 30 extra time), but they are out!

So actually you remembered this time .... Well, don't you have the chance to watch it on TV?? ESPN isn't good enough? I mean, you Texans are more or less half Mexicans ... so a little bit of Spanish shouldn't hurt? Ahem, what's the problem with a British annoncer btw? It's English after all, so what?
0:0 Half time. Ok match so far, but not too spectacular. Obviously both teams try not to make a mistake. But so far it was the sixth out of the 8 matches of the round of last 16 with a 0:0 after half time ...
Ups, second half has already begun ... cu later ...
Edit: Still 0:0 after 90 minutes! Extra time 2 x 15 minutes! Belgium was the better team, especially in the second half, but the U.S. team is fighting well and the U.S. goal keeper is really great!
Minute 92, goal for Belgium!!!! Is the U.S. team able to come back? At least there are 28 minutes to play!
Minute 105, goal for Belgium!!!!! 2:0!! Ok, sorry, but I think that's it ... I don't see the U.S. team to make two goals now ... Belgium is the clearly better team and without the amazing Howard Belgium probably would already lead with 3 or 4 goals ...
Minute 107, WOW!!! Goal for the USA!!!!!!!!!!! Unbelievable! 2:1!!! I think I was too fast! Looks like everything is still possible!
Great fight! OMG!! Dempsey!!!! What a chance!!!
Damn, I think the U.S. team would have deserved a tie and the penalty shootout, after a great fight especially in the extra time, but well, looks like it was not meant to be ...
Final result Belgium - USA 2:1!

Yes, USA is out, sorry. But they delivered a great fight, especially in the extra time, and as I said, your goalkeeper Howard is absolutely top. If Dempsey would have made the 2:2 ... well ... in a penalty shootout everything could happen ... And you probably don't know that Belgium is traded as the secret favorite for this World Cup! After this match I start to see why. So honestly, my respect for the U.S. team. They couldn't be beaten in the regular 90 minutes and almost made it to a penalty shootout! BTW, in our German TV they showed pictures from Washinton and Chicago (60.000 watching on a big screen in an "eggball" stadium ;-)), and were kind of thrilled by the U.S. fans. One reporter said, it was totally fun to watch the match together with them.
