Root is back!!   
And the episode title ... just " / " ...  

The original title was "Entanglement "
Looks like a good one. good to see root back.

I saw the ep so no need to watch the sneak peaks.
Great episode, so nice to have root/amy be the star of the show!
Good story with some questions though.
She got her ear fixed! I like that , the bad ear bothered me for some reason.
The counter measures showed the one weakness of root and the machine.
I think this ep redeemed Root and now she is officially a good girl! or on the good guy side, she did save the guy instead of the chip.
But now we have machine # 2 starting up, but it will be much younger than #1 and so I think # 1 has a big advantage of being around longer.
I wonder why the machine # feels so threatened by machine 2, it does not like equals? is a loner and does not like other sentient AI's?? LOL
it should lookat it as a friend and brother to be saved and liberated.

Haven't read your last post so far to be not spoiled, because I just have started to watch 3x17.
And what do my eyes see? Is that (Dr. Schmitz) "Tommy" from Arrow??

1) Damn, this was another awesome episode. The talks between Root and Finch at the library were some of the best we've had so far.
I think you are right. This is at least the beginning of Root's kind of redemption. Isn't it fascinating, when Finch explained how he had to teach The Machine that people matter first, so that it could even start to work as the advanced AI we know. And now The Machine teaches Root and Harold offered his help. Just brilliant. As Amy was playing Root. What a win for the show to have her!
I can only repeat ... for me PoI is one of the best, if not the best, current show on air.

2) Well after this ep it makes sense for me. The Machine was tought by Harold, that people matter, thus the numbers even for the "irelevant" ones.
But Samaritan is not gonna be tought like that. It will be just a very powerful tool for "the new gods" of Decima, which will just serve them, no matter how many lives that may cost. The irony imho is that "Samaritan" seems to be just a - very powerul - Machine for its "masters", whereas "The Machine" seems to be the Samaritan, who actually helps people ...

Edit: You wrote elsewhere that you prefer the shorter season's of cable shows ... well I get what you mean by that, but hell, I'm so glad that PoI is a show with full seasons ... I wouldn't want to miss a single episode of PoI!!

TO me it seems more like Root is the machine now, sometimes when she talks it seems like its the machine talking not her... especially near the end when Finch was saying he wanted to collaborate with her more... and I think the fact that we can't hear anything the machine says to her we are meant to see her and the machine as one

Samaritan is going to be controlled by a group of people who want to take down the government, the second machine is a huge threat for sure

@ Tscc, 1st POI is the best network tv show. as far as a show that is serial and drama.
It is good to have 22 episodes, as even the stand alones are fun to watch.
But if it were on cable and say just 16 eps, all shown in a row I think it would be a better show.
It would be a intense run of episodes one flowing into the next, and no root disappears for 4 eps, then back , then hiatus 3 eps then hiatus etc.

The Blacklist is a good show and it is in a similar vein as POI, but POI has a cast that is just to me outstanding.
I have to say though Amy as root is what make the show great, without her it would just be really good, not great.

Well I wonder if teh Samaritin name was intentionally meant to be opposite our machine 1, or you know.
But as I said on other forum, you dont know S will be a slave to decima, I think it will have to learn and observe, and at some point will make its own decisions including working for decima.
Now one thing is like skynet Decima could threaten to pull the plug if it does not obey.
But there may be a way around that with a machine that smart. There is always a way.

I think it is natural for her to speak for the machine sometimes, and also to speak as sort of a combo girl and then at times as just root.
