Stannis marches. Dany is surrounded by strangers. Cersei (Lena Headey) seeks forgiveness. Jon is challenged.

Seriously???
That's it with the S5 finale? It just feels like a cliffhanger crapfest. Not one of the supposed "important" deaths (Stannis, Sansa and Theon, Jon, Myrcella) has been shown exactly. However unrealistic (besides magic of course) a survival may be, there's the rule "no body, no death finally" ... And I'm not even talking about the fact that the big battle for Winterfell wasn't big at all and again happened completely off-screen again. Regardless what I think of it plotwise (killing Jon is another big bad call just to shock the audience, but by now it's getting old really), I have the strong impression that they just try to keep up every option hoping Martin finally will release his next book before S6.
All in all season 5 was pretty disappointing for me and the feeling to have been kind of tricked is as strong as never before with GoT. There was on big exception though ... the awesome ep 508 "Hardhome".
I'm starting to actually wonder, if the best solution for this whole mess could be the final victory of the Night's King and the White Walkers ... well, since they cannot cross the sea, maybe just let Dany and Tyrion rule over there happily after ever ...

BTW, Myrcella's poisoning by the kiss was sooo predictable as the whole Dorne plot was poorly used and a waste of time during the whole season ... same goes for Arya's story, I just don't care anymore, all this to have her getting revenge on one bad, but not even important character, and becoming blind as punishment?

Jon's "death" is in the books as well, although I don't believe he is dead, Melisandre will resurrect him, she showed up at the Wall for a reason. Stannis' death wasn't that big a deal for me, he isn't dead yet in the book, but I never thought he would take the Iron Throne, I am glad Brienne was the one to kill him. I refuse to believe Jon is dead, I just don't buy it, there is still to much of his story to be told. But, his "death" was what I thought would be the final shot. Arya's killing of Trant was awesome.

It looks impossible that Sansa and Theon survive that jump without magic or some other ridiculous tricks. Just think, what happened to the bad girl, that Theon threw off the wall right before.

There's no castle moat, so no chance of breaking through some frozen water surface. And it's not enough snow to soften enough their impact to survive or even be able to walk away. So it's actually a cheap cliffhanger (or suddenly they don't want to show two crushed bodies on the ground??) and I consider the whole Sansa/Theon story totally wasted by ending it with suicide. But on the other hand, why should they suddenly have pulled off a brilliant outcome to one of GoT's weakest storylines?
And if they just wanted to keep the actress Sophie Turner (is she really so special?) around longer, it would have been better to save her for a good story in S6 instead of what we got.

So you think, it's just the usual blabla, when the actor in interviews already insisted that Jon is actually dead and he won't be in S6?
Of course you always can resurrect a "really dead" person in a fantasy show, which uses magic like GoT, but then I'd consider such interviews even more as parody ...

And Brienne ... well, that's the next mess to talk about ...
Let's just forget about the extremely unlikely coincidence of Stannis being the last one standing and Brienne finally finding Stannis there, because that's what happens in TV shows all the time.
What's bothering me here the most, is, that Brienne ends up exactly like she said about herself to Podrick a few eps ago ... as one of the dumbest and most useless members of any (King's) guards ever. Finally she proved, that she actually failed every last person she ever swore to serve and protect. What a dumb and useless guard, who rather fails the still living person Sansa, who really needed protection, than to forgo some chance (not even a sure thing) of avenging the long dead Renly. What a waste and what a poor decision! Some may say it's kind of tragic, that right after Brienne left her post to go for Stannis, Sansa lit the candle in the tower signaling for Brienne's help. But it's not tragic, it's just stupid Brienne making another wrong decision and missing right the last chance of actually succeeding once with her mission and finally having a purpose ...

Yea, Briennes story was drastically altered this season, she isn't anywhere near Winterfell in the books. In the books her lack of completing her vows get her into trouble, but it looks like that storyline has been cut. I really hope the next book comes out before the next season, I have been refusing to believe Jon is dead for 5 years now, I guess I will know eventually, but I really believe he has too much story left to tell. There are to many clues about his parentage in the books for his story to end here. Plus, in the books, every chapter is told form another characters POV, if Jon is dead, there is no longer a POV at the Wall, which is one of the most important parts of the story. Also, Jon's final words should have been Ghost, not Olly.
