Damn, I think I'm addicted to dragons ... bounce
When Dany arrived with her dragon at the Dragonpit ... very impressing
And I hate to admit it, but the scenes and the effects when Viseryon was crashing the Wall ... mindblowingly awesomely done ... that "blue ice fire" looks even more impressing than the regular fire from the alive dragons ... unbelievable ... wow!!! cheers

Though everything was pretty predictable (partly due to the leaked scripts, which were absolutely correct), the season finale was great to watch.
The only thing I don't like is the shipment of Dany and Jon. Come one, that's so kitschy (besides the incest topic just to bring in some more awkwardness)
Well, and now waiting for S8 will be a long wait ... damn, why couldn't they just wait for the fall and then end the whole thing with one 13-ep season???
Ez, I guess you also liked the finale a lot ...

I thought it was a good finale overall with some exceptions. I enjoyed it mostly. However, it's been a pretty awkward season leading up to this point. Wish they'd drop or reduce a lot of the subplots. One reason I like the fact LF was killed. I don't have to worry about wasting time on a LF plot that goes nowhere.

One thing that was pretty glaringly illogical was Cersei's plan. I mean she comes back, let's Tyrion go freely, then commits troops to the white walker battle. Obviously, they're going to know pretty soon that she was lying when no Lannister forces show up except Jaime by himself. So effectively, she didn't change her position or gain any advantage.

I absolutely loved it. The revelation that Jon is a legitimate Targaryen and the rightful heir to the Iron Throne, something I have been declaring for about 4 years since I read the first book and the clues to his parentage were just over whelming. Also, the Wall falling may be the most iconic shot of the series. Now, we have an unbelievably long wait until next season...

Well, speaking of Littlefinger, I always was asking myself, what's the plan with him. Over the seasons he was always written as if he was out for the big coup, but it never actually payed off ... now suddenly he's killed in that simple way ... and my first reaction was "What, that's it???" The whole LF plot finally went nowhere. What a waste of time and effort in the end!

Absolutely! That was visually incredibly well done.
I almost was thinking about defecting to Team "Night King / Viserion" ... Wink

Hm, I don't see it like that.
Her plan (as she explained to Jaime) was to let Dany, Jon and their allies fight the Night King (she could clearly see, how dedicated they were for that), hoping whoever or whatever was left after that war, was too weak to beat the Lannister army, especially as she expected to have the Golden Company under her command by then.
But in the short run she had to get rid of Dany's Unsullied and the Dothraki hordes at the gates of King's Landing first.
She only needed some days until Dany's troops would have marched North enough, when a return back to King's Landing would be impossible without sacrificing the whole North and Winterfell to the Knight King. So it probably doesn't matter, if her lie becomes obvious already after a few days, but the option to turn again and fight her first would be out of the equation for Dany and Jon by then.
At least I think this could be the deliberations for her plan.
I was more annoyed by the fact that Cersei despite having seen the dead creature still only could think of her hate and revenge and is rather ready to risk the Night King's victory than for once seeing the greater picture.

Hm, I wasn't aware that avunculate marriage is allowed in (among others) Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Finland, Malaysia, the Netherlands, and Russia.

Yeah, actually computer wise, I was out of commission for about a month. Not that I didn't have access to a computer at all, but I built a new computer, a Ryzen 7 based system which consumed most of my time and resources. It turned out the way I wanted initially meaning everything worked perfectly for about a week or so. Just about the time I had set everything up for use, some bizarre defect started appearing in the hardware.

It started to constantly freeze randomly, and after two weeks of trying, I could not narrow down the specific cause or solve the problem. There was a two week window to return the processor and motherboard which I had already past before the problem even started. So, I felt like I had one shot to talk the retailer into bending their policies into a full exchange. In that case if it worked, I decided to play it safe and go with an Intel I7 architecture. Just replace all the core components in one shot rather than pushing my luck with multiple exchanges.

Any ways, all the parts were still in perfect condition, and they were cool about the whole situation and gave me a full return credit. It did cost me extra because I had to buy another cooler for the CPU and a more expensive motherboard than before, not to mention, RAM prices went up about 10-20% in the last month.

But, the partial rebuild of the new build is working pretty solid so far... knock on wood. I'm really just now, in the last couple of days, getting Firefox installed and a lot of my forum accounts re-connected.

At any rate, my computer situation was not too dissimilar to LF's story line. A lot of hours of wasted effort, loads of fruitless activity, perpetual confusion, and then finally ending abruptly as the result of some arbitrary deadline. Wink

I was more annoyed by the fact that Cersei despite having seen the dead creature still only could think of her hate and revenge and is rather ready to risk the Night King's victory than for once seeing the greater picture.

Cersei rejected the alliance based on her demand that Jon not take sides. She told everyone openly that she wasn't going to help but rather sit in King's Land to defend her position. Then, she comes back and acts like she changed her mind, but her former decision still stands. They'll know very soon that she was lying. She doesn't really delay anything because Dany wasn't going to attack King's Landing any ways, and why do they suddenly need Lannisters. What should be realistically left of the Lannister army after big losses in the battles with Rob Stark. That's why they chose the Red Wedding strategy because they were losing. Then, Dany destroys a decent segment of the army that Jamie was commanding plus their best General.

Besides, the Lannister army usually sucks unless it's a slam dunk.

How long would it realistically take to secure King's Landing? A couple of days? Stannis almost did it in one night, and her army is a lot better than his.

BTW, why didn't Dany just wipe out Cersei and her whole entourage? They were all sitting in a nice little group. All she had to do was her "dracarys" and no more Cersei. Problem solved. That's something she did in the past and it worked for her. But what is she doing now? Listening to Jon, and Jon is terribly rigid and noble meaning that he would rather lose and die than defer what he "feels" is right in the moment.

I don't think Cersei ever had any intention of siding with Jon or Dany,. Jon refusing to call a truce with Cersei was just the excuse she needed to delay the talks. I don't think it was about needing the Lannister army, it was about being united, as the living vs the dead. By losing Jaime, she just sealed her eventual fate. Either Jon and Dany finish her off, or the Dead do.
