Is it a coincidence that our Royal family have the same names? Elizabeth and Philip?
Hello guys.

I always enjoy this series.  I usually watch each episode twice, in case in miss anything.
I think it is because it reminds me of when I left school and worked in the telex exchange 1971-77.
Telex calls, like phone calls, went through an operator in many countries.  Moscow and the whole Soviet Union was not an exception.  Olga was one of their ladies.  That is how I got to learn and memorise most of the major cities, not connecting them to the fact mostly, that each city was actually a capital of a country.  eg Kiev-Ukraine, Minsk-Belarus, Riga-Latvia.  Admittedly, most of the soviet union, like the rest of the world, had become straight-through-dial having installed the old-fashioned metal noisy exchanges by the time the 80s arrived, when this series is set.
In the UK, those old exchanges were called Strouger.

I like the show too, maybe you will be here again when the show starts its final season?

I like the daughter, and many dont.

I want a happy ending lol but pretty sure that wont happen.

I would like to see philip somehow survive all this. maybe even hide out in america.

Sometimes the show is a little depressing, but I still like it.

Yes T5000 Matthew Rhys is from Wales (That little lump attached to the left of England). His last name is very Welsh. I noticed in that 1¼ hour interview, he reverted to a Welsh accent at one stage.

I personally could not impersonate an accent if I tried. I might be able to do Suvvern USA if I copied it from a script. I hope that when I saw Summer Glau in Inside The Box, she might say to someone that her husband was a po-lees-man!! Haha - as she played a southern gal in that short film.

Anyway, digression is not for this site, as it happens too often on the TSCC wiki.

So, you too think the end of the Americans might end drastically.

Yes I like the daughter too. Their son was still very young to be taken seriously but at his age he has shot upwards and will progress in the next season - I'm sure of that.
Did you see Holly Taylor in her ballet video? It seems that lots of actresses start life doing ballet lessons. Even Leah Michelle from Glee.

Do you remember the flashback from Philip (which would have been the same for Elizabeth, who was raped by the Russian instructor), of what they were expected to do with both sexes in order to prepare them for what they might have to do in the extreme during their missions? I'm pretty sure the series is all based on truth.

I think normally Martha might have been killed when her usefulness was over, just like that Latino mother who was married to a KGB spy. We both know why she was spared.

I don't mind admitting that Nina Krilova's death by bullet in the back of the head was quite a shock but at least the guys did it quickly. Mind you, I'd rather not tell her she was going to die.

that was awfule, nina was sweet and I liked her.

yeah a lot of truth is put into the series, it was more hardcore in S1.

Even though the are against america, I find myself mostly rooting for them,
not the americans after them.

I dont like seeing them do the evil things though.

T5000 G'day.
I think history has told us that the venom aimed at the USSR by the Americans and of course Britain was quite unjust now that we know the tables completely turned.... almost.
The Soviets were in Afghanistan to combat the poppies being moved in to the soviet union.
Yet, America was only there looking for Bin Laden and the so-called training camps, yet he wasn't even there for long.
To this day, and I can tell you by word of mouth, the 3 Belarussians (2 of them former soviet anti-missile missile system designers) who worked in London with me, told me of the drugged up people in their country.  One of them, Yuri, arrived quite anxious from his return trip from Minsk and told me that a body had been dumped outside his door in his apartment.  Gee.  Their Heroin problem still exists in Russia.
Yes, what they do is not nice but we both know it is to make the story more interesting.
I remember reading that when a former KGB spy was asked whether he ever killed anyone, he said 'no'.  I mean, what the hell did the newspaper reporter expect to get for an answer?

Regarding Paige.  I believe that whatever her parents ask, she will defy them and continue to seduce information out of Stan's son.  It is a weird situation, because like her brother, they were so American. I wonder if the writers will address her reasons for turning, if she does in fact turn?

Costa Ronin, who plays Oleg Burov.  Hmnn, I got the impression he might be leaving America for good but we never know for sure how the story will pan out.  You make a point because I'm sure Nina told he that she challenged Stan and found out the truth.   If I was Oleg, I would certainly tell Matthew Beeman. (You said Oleg but I think you meant Matthew?)

I'm sorry that the series will eventually end but I guess there is only so much that a single spy can do.  After all, they appear to be under too much stress.
I wonder if the anti-bio treatment the adult Jennings received could have detrimental health problems in real life?

BTW., have you seen this?

good post kevin, i will check out the link later.

reasons for turning, if she does in fact turn? Well she is loyal still to her parents, and is not privy to the bad things they
have done.
She seems to be drifting that direction.

This show shows both sides as bad and good.

G'day T5000. I did indeed see the video and I summed up that every joking suggestion to an ending for the show will not in fact happen.
I had a funny thought the other night after seeing a program on TV about a family with 7 children. Imagine if the Jennings had 7!!!
Anyway.
I see Costa Ronin still tweets and from that I get the impression he will still be in the show.
T5000 I did mean Oleg(Costa Ronin) - he could use what Nina told him to threaten Matthew Beeman. If he told his superiors at the Soviet Embassy, they would be most annoyed. Mind you, Philip killed Stan's best friend (I can't remember his name - I believe he was latino - I couldn't find him on imdb The Americans). I don't know whether the adult Jennings ever told their bosses what happened.

I'm pretty sure the Jennings have to move from Chicago to New York. That might mean Stan Beeman is out of the picture until the Jennings become a suspect in his mind.

Depending upon which 1980s year they are currently in, there might be some interesting things to see on their TV. I liked to hear what music was available then too. Chernobyl disaster was as far back as 1986. I had no idea it was so long ago.

I agree. It's a shame it will end.

OMG, by saying Paige might do a Monika Lewinsky, suggested that she.... on her.... under the.... and....
Good job Hilary never made President, what might she have got up to (that she's not already done?!) Evil or Very Mad

Yes, Joel Fields et al have good conversations around the table in front of audiences.

I find it ironic that current events show that not a lot has changed, except the way I see it, it is the Russians doing the killing this time, although the conventions of war as I see it, is more cowardly, as dropping bombs and using drones is not too difficult and quite safe.  That's compared with wading through jungles on an equal footing with the enemy in some cases.

Back to the subject.  We don't really know what will happen.  I think it would be great if they could introduce a harrowing situation filled with emotion and sadness that leaves the viewer in shock.  The days of happy ever after are over and I think if it is well done, it could get rave reviews.  Still, it might not happen.  Something completely different might be thought up.
Judging by the writeups, the slow burn might or might not lead to 'falling off a ravine' so to speak.

well I hope they dont follow the usual style and kill them off or some of them, and have
a sad ending.
I would like to see phil free of the russians, and he would need the kids at least to be happy.

Many shows I liked for years have had bad or stupid endings, dexter, breaking bad, etc.
How a show ends does determine for me if it is worth rewatching or not.

Bad or sad endings, tend to make it less desirable to rewatch it later.
